NIHR CRDC: Cheshire and Merseyside

NIHR CRDC: Cheshire and Merseyside is making research accessible through collaboration, bringing together 13 secondary care organisations to deliver commercial research across the region. Hosted by the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, the region’s largest acute provider, in the heart of Liverpool, the centre brings together world-class expertise such as cardiology, cancer, head and neck and respiratory medicine.

The C&M CRDC sits at the heart of a diverse region, spanning 9 boroughs and serving a population of approximately 2.7 million. Areas of Cheshire and Merseyside face some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country, alongside rising demand for NHS services and significant health inequalities shaped by socio-economic factors and cultural diversity. These challenges influence local health outcomes and service needs, highlighting the critical role of research in delivering targeted interventions and inclusive public engagement.

The C&M CRDC partnership provides specialist care across trauma, cardiac, respiratory, cancer, renal, ophthalmology, and women’s health.
