NIHR CRDC-PC: Cornwall and Devon

We are a seven-site primary care research consortium with a 25-year track record of delivering high-quality commercial clinical trials across urban, rural, and coastal communities. The consortium serves a core population of approximately 100,000 patients, extending to over 330,000 through a federated network of GP practices, including underserved populations with high unmet clinical need.

A key strength is the federated model, where each site acts as a delivery hub for its surrounding GP network. Combining resilience and flexibility of a decentralised delivery with strong central governance, enables local autonomy and consistent, standardised trial execution across the consortium.

Sites are supported by 19 experienced investigators with a combined 123+ years of clinical trial experience. We build on this experience with a delivery workforce includes research nurses, healthcare assistants, coordinators, pharmacists, managers, and dedicated data teams.

This combination of scale, experience, infrastructure, and proven performance has established a strong sponsor reputation for reliability, speed, and delivery excellence across commercial clinical trials.

The network spans towns, cities, rural villages, and coastal communities across south west England, including some of the UK’s most socio-economically deprived areas. This geographic spread enables inclusive recruitment and improves research equity by offering participation opportunities to populations traditionally under-represented in trials.
