NIHR CRDC: Sheffield Children’s
NIHR CRDC: Sheffield Children’s is dedicated to delivering trials for children and young people, offering sponsors a specialist, end-to-end platform for high-quality paediatric clinical trials. Our experienced, multidisciplinary teams support all phases of commercial research, with particular strength in later-phase, complex studies, alongside capacity for large interventional trials and early-phase research, including first-in-human and gene therapy trials.
We are a leading centre for commercial research in specialties including Allergy, Dermatology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Haematology and Oncology, Immunology and Infectious Disease, Metabolic Bone, Neurology, Neuromuscular, Respiratory, Rheumatology and Ophthalmology.
Our Clinical Research Facility provides a dedicated, patient-centred environment, offering treatment rooms, sensory room and supporting overnight stays. Located within Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and featuring the UK’s first integrated Skin Barrier Research Facility for children, it is adjacent to a medical ward with short walking transfers to Critical Care, Emergency Department and other wards. Key support departments for clinical trials including pharmacy, sleep lab, gait lab, radiology, audiology, ophthalmology and theatres, all under one roof.
Working with the National Centre for Child Health Technology and the NIHR Health Tech Research Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health, we are exploring ways to increase commercial opportunities to develop and trial medical technologies for CYP.
